Sky program Blood Sweat and Gears are featuring the SMC yb250 off road bike for a new weekly section. It will follow a presenter training to become an off-road rider and eventually racing in an amateur series. There will also be a long term test of the bike, so keep watching !

SMC bikes were chosen for public use on the practice track at the new event Dirt 3-2-1. The event was held over 3 days at the Fat Cat Moto Park, Yorkshire. With around 5000 visitors, 10 SMC Off Road bikes were in use all day, everyday, and we did not have any failures or breakdowns - as expected.
One lucky visitor also won a YB-150 - congratulations whoever you are (we are waiting for the name !)

 

In an article written in the Motorcycle trader magazine, SMC has been congratulated on their forward thinking in respect to the warranty they offer for the off road bikes.

Dave Plummer (sales and marketing manager of Husqvarna) said - ' We should congratulate SMC on their forward thinking, for far too long now off road customers have been deprived of the benefits offered freely to their road bike riding counterparts. With certain Enduro bikes costing in excess of £6000, surely the expectation is that they will be free of material or manufactyring defects for more than 30 days? It apperas not, based on what the market leader offers their customers currently.

 

SMC have been chosen to supply the off road 150 bikes to the KO2 training school in Yorkshire. The school is being set up to help youngsters who have become disillusioned with the education system for many reasons. KO2 helps to develop skills, including but not limited to dirt biking, that will enable youngsters to stay away from criminal activities and the associated way of life. Alison Lowndes who runs KO2 commented 'at 70kg the YB 150 is lightweight and perfect for entry level training.http://www.ko2.org.uk/#/youthprogramme/4533260541  

SMC have taken over another warehouse to enable a full motorcycle workshop to be fitted. This is the next step in offering our customers the full package they require from a motorcycle distributor. The new facility enables SMC to deliver bikes to the dealers fully assembled if needed, freeing up their workshops and enabling fast sales. Any warranty issues can also be diagnosed on-site, and replacements sent out immediately.  

Due to growing demand of the SMC range of bikes, SMC are very happy to announce we have taken on 2 more members of staff. Steve Amos and Daniel Windermer together have over 30 years of experience in the motorbike trade, from mechanical knowledge to running dealerships. Steve Amos said 'I believe the SMC bikes are some of the very best on the market for the price range. I would not be interested in joining a company that did not deal in a quality products and was not focused in the action plan for the next 2 years, these are very exciting times.'  

SMC are proud to announce the launch of the 125 road legal at the Motorcycle Expo. The YB125 comes with on road tyres and rims as standard, but retaining all of the off road features so a quick swap of the tyres enables you to get out and get muddy! SMC are offering an off-road tyre and rim package at a very competitive price to give you a bike suitable for all environments.  

SMC are once again showcasing their bikes at the Motorcycle Expo on the 18th - 20th January at the NEC, Birmingham. Come and see our latest models, including the new road legal version. The 1st road legal SMC bikes have landed in the UK. Testing will be done over the next few weeks and hopefully we will have them on sale within 6 weeks. If you would like to be informed when they land please get in touch and we will add you to our newsletter.  

SMC GB are proud to announce their new on-line shop will be made live on the 24th July. All parts available will been displayed, with search functions to make tracking down that specific part even easier. The site tracks stock levels so you know if the parts is in at the time of ordering. Please come back then to have a look.  

The Taklimakan Rally was a ten day race event, consisting of eight separate legs, held in the beginning of May. Two local racing teams entered our YB250 in the Rally. Our YB250 not only won its class, but it came in first place in 6 out of the 8 legs of the race. Chris from SMC said " We have worked for two and a half years to get these bikes up the standard of the competition. I think this proves we have exceeded that target, and actually beaten the competition on our 1st attempt." For the overall standings the YB250 came in fifth behind much larger bikes such as the Yamaha WR450F, the KTM 450EXC, and the KTM 525EXC to name a few. As expected the YB250 beat all other locally manufactured motorcycles. It also finished ahead of well known motorcycles such as the Honda XR250, Kawasaki KLX 250 and Suzuki DR250.  

SMC GB have taken delivery of over one and a half thousand spare bikes into their warehouse. Dan from SMC GB said "We have all heard of the horror stories of new bikes being sold into the UK with no parts back-up and we did not want to be in the same situation.
